With MySpace friends, you can really end up with a huge list of friends, many of whom you may have no idea who they really are! Depending on your reasons for being on MySpace, you may not want to accept everyone who asks to be your friend, there are often those who are interested in anything but "friendship".

If your goal with your MySpace friends is to sell something, then you will want to have as many as possible, because each one is a potential client and could bring you some money, so go ahead and invite and accept as many MySpace friends as you possibly can.

However, if you are actually on MySpace to just socialize, you will want to limit your MySpace friends to those that you are actually interested in. This doesn´t mean you can only associate with people that you are familiar with in real life, but at least take a look at their profile before clicking on "Accept as Friend". Many people simply do a search to see if you are interested in something. For example, they might look for profiles that are into PC games and then become friends with all of those MySpace users , with the intention of sending them ads for PC games later on.

You know that you have too many MySpace friends if you have difficulties keeping up with everyone. There is more to life than just social networking, so if you find that you are spending hours online, scanning profiles and chatting with your MySpace friends and trying to keep up with everyone and read messages sent, it might be time to clean out your friend list.

Delete all inactive friends
Delete all friends who only send you forwards
Delete all friends who only send you ads
Delete anyone that you keep fighting with
Delete anyone you aren´t interested in talking to anymore

Once you have drastically reduced your MySpace friends, it is time to make some changes to how you accept new ones. Make sure you give yourself permission to say no to some people. If you aren´t interested, don´t accept them as friends. You´ll be able to relax and hang out with the people you really do enjoy talking to. And you´ll still have time for other things!
