Enhance Your MySpace Profile

The experts say that MySpace is the third most visited site on the Web, but whether it's number 3, 75 or 101, what's important is that you enhance your profile. The other term for it is "pimping your profile." The reason it's important to do this is that MySpace is first and foremost a social site. Your goal is to make your profile as social and as attractive so that you create a network of friends with similar interests.

It all begins with "about me". Jazz it up!

As soon as you sign up, go to the MySpace panel or dashboard that contains about half a dozen tabs. Click on "interests and personality." This is where you're going to make the first impression. First impressions count so put on your thinking cap and get creative. Write an introduction that will grab the viewers' attention. Of course, if you're in your 30s or 40s, you wouldn't want to sound like an 18-year old. You could be attracting the wrong people!

If you're feeling stuck, click on a few profiles to see what kinds of introductions grab you. You'll discover that some are zany and absurd; others are conservative. The more unusual your introduction is, the more you attract attention. People will say "hmm, wonder what this person is like." Say something cool about yourself.

You don't really like to begin your introduction by saying "I love books and movies" because that sounds rather lame. Be different by wording it this way: "Why don't I tell you about this movie that kept me riveted to the screen, making me feel like I was kayaking on uncharted, dangerous waters? Talk about skipped heartbeats." This way you tug at people's curiosity and emotions.

Next, decorate and design your space. You need not be a programming wizard to do what others are doing. You can use pre-selected layouts, hot or exotic backgrounds, banners, avatars and icons. Ask your MySpace friends how and where they got theirs. You'll be surprised how friendly and helpful they are. You can choose any background you want: animated, sexy, sports, cartoons, glitter graphics, and much more.

You can also pimp your profile with music. Let your profile come alive. MySpace makes it easy for you because they have built-in music which you can select by artist, by style. Simply click "add" and your profile will start to sing!

Here's the catch-all for pimping your profile: get creative, grab the graphics, and turn on the music!
